Cannabis naturally contains both Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD) compounds. In general, cannabis in flower form has a significantly higher content of THC compared to CBD, while oils contain even higher concentrations of THC. For those who don’t know by now, THC is what gives you the famous high you hear about and see in the movies where you laugh and get hungry. CBD does not give you any psychoactive high, however, it is very good at calming people down. With that being said, using both in tandem can give you the best of both worlds.
In my personal experience, when you’re smoking cannabis or eating edibles, it is easy to find yourself feeling a little unsettled. This feeling can be described as anxiety and/or paranoia. When you’re feeling in such a way, it is easy to see why some people are turned off by its effects, while the others live and die by its ability to increase the quality of life. It comes down to knowing your tolerances and how to remedy unwanted effects.
When using CBD I have always felt very calm, it is very similar to the after effects of spending an entire day at the beach and finally plopping into bed. Your mind is very clear, you’re awake, but your body feels like gravity has increased by about 25%. Users like to use it in a social setting to reduce anxiety or at night to fall asleep quicker.
When combining THC and CBD together, you are able to achieve a very mellow high. Your mind will be soaring, but your heart won’t race and you won't feel fidgety. Keep in mind, for this to work you have to take into account the time it takes edible goods and smokeable goods to take effect. CBD is very popular in gummy form, while cannabis is popular in flower and oil form.
For example, do not smoke cannabis, take a CBD gummy and expect for them to counteract each other as the effects of the smokeable cannabis will be long gone before the edible CBD activates. Luckily CBD dominant goods come in oil, bud, edible and drinkable forms, allowing you to match any THC form.
When doing something that requires some focus and I want to be high, I simply match my THC with CBD, dosing each compound by feel. As you gain more experience with both compounds, you will be able to tell whether you are going to have a comfortable high or an uncomfortable and be able to take the proper steps to counteract it. In simple terms the more CBD in relation to THC that is used, more clarity will be gained in your mental state and thought process.
