When was marijuana discovered?

The first known and recorded use of marijuana was in Greece, in the year 440 BCE. This was recorded in Greek historian Herodotus's Histories, where he explains the purpose of marijuana was to take cannabis steamed baths. It was known that in places such as Europe, Middle East and China also knew and used cannabis, albeit for different uses. 

 

What is marijuana?

Marijuana is derived from the dried flowering tops, stems, leaves, and seeds of the cannabis (hemp) plant. By extracting the plant in different methods, different concentrates will be created, such as hash which is resin form. These different extraction methods will affect the amount of THC in the concentrate. Marijuana is known for its psychoactive ability, which is due to the 100's of cannabinoids that exist in the plant.

Cannabinoids are compounds found inside of the cannabis plant, the most famous of cannabinoids is THC which stands for Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is found in the dried resin gland of the female cannabis flower. THC is the main psychoactive part of cannabis and is the main psychoactive part of cannabis. Although, there are 100's of cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, THC is the only one that produces a psychoactive response in the human body. THC acts on specific brain cell receptors, and because of this produces a sense of feeling "high".

 

What are the effects of marijuana? 

    - Slight change in the perception of time

    - Increased appetite

    - Sense of euphoria, relaxation, or creativity
