Black Tie CBD is Oregon’s premier supplier of industrial hemp flowers. Black Tie CBD has a very strong selection of hemp flowers and other CBD products derived from their top of the line hemp flowers. The price and quality meet what you’d find in a dispensary and the hemp flowers come with lab results to prove their efficacy. For this review, Black Tie CBD sent over their Blueberry Pie Hemp Flower, which I was extremely excited to try.
The Black Tie CBD Blueberry Pie Hemp Flower arrives in a sealed glass container. The black lid features the geometric Black Tie CBD logo: two circles and two triangles cleverly arranged, have quickly come to represent the Black Tie CBD brand. Across the lid and jar, a sticker shows some quick test results on the flower within and also features a QR code to the test results. This is the full Blueberry Pie laboratory report, prepared by ChemHistory in their Milwaukie, Oregon lab.
When you unscrew the container you have to go through the nitrogen seal - as is quickly becoming industry standard. On top of properly packaging the hemp flowers themselves in the glass jar, the glass jars themselves are also arrived packaged in an additional layer of security: discrete, vacuum-sealed bags.
The superb packaging kept the hemp flower at a perfect humidity level and it was the perfect consistency for me to be able to grind up with my fingers. When I did so, the stickiness of the kief was distinctly different than I was used to with THC laden flowers. This particular batch of Blueberry Pie tested at 27% cannabinoids with no detected THC at all.
The top terpenes present by weight are B-Caryophyllene at 3.6 mg/g, a-Nerolidol at 2.3 mg/g, a-Bisabolol at 1.9 mg/g, a-Humulene at 1.6 mg/g, and B-Myrcene at 1.5 mg/g. Based on the terpene profile, the lab expected the top associated scents to be cinnamon, orange, chamomile, hops, and flowers.
As soon as I broke the seal and got my first whiff of the flower, I immediately went back to the summarized test results on the packaging as well as the comprehensive test results which were also included on the label. The smell was just like that of Blueberry Pie that I had smoked years ago. The buds smelled somewhere between blueberries and blueberry flowers as it wasn’t too sweet. The fruity smell really came out when I pinched the bud between my fingers. Overarching, everything was a pleasant musky, hoppy scent that is often found with Myrcene and Humulene.
The first way I tried the Blueberry Pie was in a standard, 1 foot tall, Erlenmeyer flask style water pipe. The ground-up hemp flower burned completely and just as expected, leaving behind grey-white ash. As soon as I exhaled, I felt as if I was exhaling the tightness in my core out of my body. Casting it out like an exorcism.
Having only tried CBD through slower mediums of absorption such as vaporizing or edibles or topicals before, I never knew that CBD could provide a distinctly non-psychoactive but still noticeable cathartic feel.
Switching mediums to a dry herb vaporizer instead, I took the Blueberry Pie from 340 degrees Fahrenheit all the way to 464 degrees Fahrenheit. It didn’t hit nearly as instantly as it did with the waterpipe, but eventually, I felt the same cathartic feeling.
Alternatively, it’s that brief, fleeting feeling of calm when you’ve let out that same deep breath - right before your body starts telling you that you obviously need to breathe again. Without going into an ode to proper breathing techniques, it’s a slightly euphoric but distinctly not a psychoactive feeling.
This is the full spectrum, cohort effect, which is still powerful even without large quantities of THC. There’s lots of full-spectrum CBD oil, and Black Tie CBD even has some; however, I still find a perhaps primal comfort in taking in full-spectrum CBD the old fashioned way. Luckily for me the consumer, there are a variety of desirable flavors in Black Tie CBD- Hemp Flower.
Ease of use: 5/5
Overall score: 4.9/5
Of all of Black Tie CBD’s great products, Blueberry Pie will always be a classic. Delicious and efficacious from the first taste to the last, I hope that it never goes out of stock!
